Moose, Elk and Bighorn Sheep Photo Workshop

Early November through early December is a great time of year for wildlife in Grand Teton. Large crowds follow the falling leaves out of the park. Bull moose come out of the river bottoms and form bachelor herds. Elk are everywhere and bighorn sheep are down from their summer retreat by mid-November.

Grizzly bears are still out collecting every last calorie. Every animal is ready for winter. They look as good as will look all year long. Late autumn skies make for dramatic photography. Blizzards happen, but the snow is not yet deep.

Wolves, coyotes and eagles are more commonly seen as are great gray owls. The cold mornings make for dramatic backlit images of elk, moose and bison.

Bighorn sheep are rutting by Thanksgiving.

Some snow is one the ground, but the barns are still easily accessible. Steam rising from the Snake River in the mornings is spectacular.

While this short photo workshop is designed more for wildlife it is also a great time to get winter shots of the Tetons without struggling through deep snow.

Choose any number of days for a custom late fall photo safari. We can stay in the Tetons, add a few days in Yellowstone and even head up to the Northern range if you have the time. Anything here is possible.
