Food in the Greater Yellowstone

Certainly not a complete list, but these are the places we eat and like to take guests

Jackson

Located south of downtown Jackson, Cutty’s has great Philly Cheesesteaks, good pizza and is a favorite hangout for locals.

Outstanding BBQ smoked on the premises and probably the best salad bar in town.

The Tetons

Good food and a varied menu to please almost anyone while overlooking Jackson Lake.

A very nice deli in the general store. Enjoying a meal and the view from the upper deck should be on everyone’s to do list.

A basic but good lunch menu and outstanding dinners only a few miles east of Moran.

West Yellowstone

Using a semolina wheat crust and piled high with toppings this is the best pizza on the planet. Full stop.

An excellent bakery and deli, they make great lunch boxes to go for your day in Yellowstone.

A basic but good lunch menu and outstanding dinners only a few miles east of Moran.

Gardiner

A complete small grocery store in Gardiner that also makes lunch boxes to go.

Lodging in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem

Jackson

Our preferred lodging in Jackson, the Homewood Suites by Hilton are off the main drag but close to the town square. Breakfast is good and a suite is a nice touch.

Grand Teton National Park

The convenience of staying in the park is fantastic. Get a suite in the 900 block if you can, listen to wolves serenade you to sleep and maybe have 399 pay you a visit.

The Lakefront Cabins have a tremendous view.

West Yellowstone

The do a great job here. Everything is a one or two bedroom suite with a full kitchen. The beds are super comfortable – we went out and bought the mattresses they use and you are right across the street from the Gardiner Market. It’s a smaller property so no worries about some large bus tour ruining your stay.

Gardiner

Our preferred lodging in West Yellowstone, the rooms are big, the inn is close to everything and is consistently the highest rated lodging in West Yellowstone.

Yellowstone National Park

Our favorite place to stay inside Yellowstone. It’s spendy and the rooms are relatively basic but you are in a perfect central location to explore Yellowstone National Park.

Yellowstone National Park

Our preferred lodging in the Bozeman area. The property is very close to the Bozeman airport, is new, clean and quiet. There are a number of places to eat nearby.

Wildlife Education in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem

Located in West Yellowstone the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center has taken in grizzly bears that would have otherwise been killed as well as wolves, otters and raptors that can’t live in the wild. This non-profit wildlife park is laid out in a park-like setting with large, enriching enclosures for the wildlife and great educational opportunities. They are completely funded by visitation and offer a number sponsorship opportunities even if you can’t make it there in person. They have particularly hard hit by the pandemic and would appreciate any help that you can provide.

Located west of Jackson, Wyoming, the Teton Raptor Center is a rescue, rehabilitation and, where possible, release facility. They also have a robust education program, appearing regularly at the Jackson Hole Airport and Jackson Hole Visitor Center. Private tours of the Teton Raptor Center are available by appointment.
